How do I clean a tap tower's exterior without affecting the lines inside?

Tower exterior cleaning is straightforward, with the main precaution being what’s inside versus outside the housing.

The exterior housing is separate from the internal lines

A tap tower’s outer casing is a separate structural element from the beer and CO2 lines routed through its interior — cleaning the exterior surface doesn’t need to involve, or risk affecting, what’s routed inside.

Use the same stainless steel guidance for metal towers

For a metal tower exterior, the same guidance covered in our note on stainless steel dispenser cleaning applies — mild soap and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive scrubbers and chlorine-based cleaners.

Avoid liquid entering the base opening

The main precaution is avoiding excess liquid running down into the base opening where lines pass through into the cabinet below — wiping rather than spraying, and drying promptly, keeps moisture away from that entry point.

What to do in practice

Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth and appropriate mild cleaner for the material, avoiding excess liquid near the base opening where lines pass through.

What we would not do

Spray cleaning liquid directly at the tower’s base opening — wiping with a slightly damp cloth avoids introducing moisture where the internal lines pass through into the cabinet.
