The only certificate on the shelf

Eight items here. Seven say “food-grade” or “stainless steel” or “BPA-free” and leave it there.

This one names the alloy — 18/8 — cites California Prop 65, and says an independent accredited laboratory checked it. For a vessel that holds something you drink, that is the difference between a claim and a test.

And the one it leaves out

How long the wine stays cold.

Three layers, a copper reflector and a vacuum, and no hours. Nobody on this shelf publishes a hold time, which on a shelf of chillers is a collective silence worth noticing.

What readers ask us

Why does a copper layer help?

Copper reflects radiant heat, which is the component vacuum insulation alone does not stop. It is standard in good vacuum flasks and S’well is the only maker on this shelf that mentions it.

How long does a bottle stay cold?

Not published. That is the one specification missing, and no insulated chiller on this shelf publishes a duration — the Host glasses publish a preparation time instead.

Why does hand-wash-only matter?

Because a vacuum-walled vessel has a sealed cavity, and dishwasher heat and pressure are what break those seals. It is an honest restriction and it means washing it after every bottle, by hand.
