Cooper Cooler CC1 review

A rapid chiller cooling cans in a minute and wine bottles in six, which also warms baby bottles.

What it comes down to A can in one minute and a wine bottle in six, by the same ice-water spray. It also heats baby bottles, and its own listing ends by saying it does not include an adapter.

What the maker puts in writing

  • Cans in 1 minute · wine bottles in 6 minutes
  • Rotates the drink while spraying with ice water
  • Also heats baby bottles
  • Touchpad with preset times, extra-chill setting, add-ice indicator
  • Removable lid for long bottles · no-spin option · auto-off · 1-year warranty
  • Does not include adapter

The only per-drink times on this shelf

One minute for a can. Six for a wine bottle.

Every holding cooler here publishes a temperature it maintains. The frozen sleeve publishes five minutes for champagne. This is the only listing that times two different things, which is what tells you it was tested rather than described.

And the sentence at the end of the last bullet

does not include adapter.

Four words, buried, and they decide whether the machine works out of the box. The Tailgater on this shelf includes mains and car plugs and publishes fewer times.

What works, and what does not

Strengths

  • The only chiller on this shelf that publishes a time for each kind of drink: one minute for a can, six for a wine bottle
  • An add-ice indicator light and a removable lid for long bottles, neither of which anything else here has
  • It also warms baby bottles, which is the only dual-purpose claim on this shelf

Compromises

  • Its own listing says it does not include an adapter, where its stablemate here includes two plugs
  • The largest footprint on this shelf at roughly 16 by 10.5 by 8 inches
  • Needs ice and water loaded every time, like both Cooper Coolers here

What readers ask us

Six minutes for a bottle — really?

That is the published figure, by spraying ice water onto a rotating bottle. Water removes heat far faster than air, which is why a fridge takes hours. The other rapid device on this shelf, a frozen gel sleeve, publishes five minutes for champagne.

What adapter is missing?

The listing ends its specification bullet with *does not include adapter*, and does not say which. Its stablemate on this shelf ships a 120-volt household plug and a 12-volt car plug. Ask the seller before ordering, because a chiller you cannot plug in is an ice bucket.

Why does it heat baby bottles?

The same mechanism — spraying water at a controlled temperature onto a rotating vessel — works in both directions. It is the only non-drinks function published on this shelf.
