Silicone is a durable but not indestructible material, and a few simple habits keep molds working well over repeated use.
Warm water and mild soap is the safe default
Hand washing with warm water and a mild dish soap is a widely applicable approach for silicone ice molds, whether spherical molds like GOODS+GADGETS’s or HONYAO’s, or DasWas’s round format.
Avoid abrasive scrubbers
Abrasive sponges or scouring pads can scratch or dull a silicone mold’s surface over time — a soft cloth or sponge is the safer choice for regular cleaning.
Check dishwasher safety per specific product rather than assuming
Not all silicone products are rated dishwasher-safe, and dishwasher heat and detergent can affect some molds more than others — check the specific product’s own care instructions before assuming.
Full drying before storage matters
As covered in our note on storing molds between uses, thorough drying before putting a mold away helps avoid odor buildup and keeps it ready for the next use.
What we would not do
Assume every silicone ice mold is dishwasher-safe without checking the specific product’s stated care instructions, or recommend abrasive scrubbing that risks damaging the surface.
