  • Pour from the bottle into the decanter, or back into the bottle — aerating either way

The accessories are the point

Nine decanters on this shelf. Every glass one of them has a neck too narrow for a brush, and eight of them leave you to work that out after the first red wine ring sets.

This is the one that puts the beads and the stand in the box.

And the number

Three to five minutes, against half an hour.

Only one other item here publishes a decanting time, and it does it with a filter in a 750 ml body. This does it with an aerating lid and 550 ml of air above the wine.

At $49.99 it is the most expensive thing on the shelf. It is also the only complete one.

What readers ask us

What are the cleaning beads for?

A decanter has a narrow neck and no brush reaches the shoulders. Stainless beads swirled with water scour the inside without scratching. Every glass decanter on this shelf needs them and this is the only one that includes them.

Pouring the wine back into the bottle — why?

Because the aeration happens as the wine passes the lid, so doing it twice doubles the exposure. It is also how you serve from the bottle after decanting. Only this listing on the shelf describes two-way use.

Is it worth $24 more than the same maker’s plain decanter?

The plain NEW PACIFIC YOUYAH decanter on this shelf is $25.99 and its listing states a capacity of 400 liters, with three bullets and no other information. This one publishes 1,300 ml, a decanting time, a mechanism and two accessories. On what is actually written down, yes.
